This illustration was created as part of a Tom Froese Draw With Me class, where I explore playful, analog-inspired digital techniques and learn new approaches to illustration.
About the Tutorial
In this class, we experimented with drawing simple 3D objects and then explored ways to make them more dynamic. The process involved:
- Drawing basic 3D forms
- Rotating and repeating them to create variation
- Changing colours and textures
- Arranging them together so they appeared to float across the page
What I Learned
This exercise encouraged me to think about composition and movement, rather than just the objects themselves. By repeating and recolouring simple shapes, I could create a playful arrangement that feels both random and balanced at the same time.
I also enjoyed how the class pushed me to focus less on perfection and more on energy, fun, and experimentation.
Final Illustration
Playful arrangement of floating 3D objects, rotated, repeated, and coloured in different ways, created during Tom Froese’s Draw With Me tutorial.
